Truthiness Indeed
Great Rolling Stone cover piece on the dynamic between Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart. These two epitomize a great time in comedy and a low point in politics. It’s nice to see they do not take themselves too seriously. I post this mainly because Stewart is shooting The Daily Show from my alma mater/hometown this week.
Speaking of which, this guy will be a guest Thursday on The Daily Show promoting his new movie, Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan. I saw it at a screening about a month ago and it’s being released nationally on Friday. In short, its the funniest movie I have seen since There’s Something About Mary. If you have never seen Da Ali G Show, Sasha Baron Cohen plays a culture shocked Kazakhstani journalist touring America named Borat. He is one of three characters Cohen used for his HBO series, along with the flamboyant gay Austrian, Bruno; and the confused white European, Ali G. All three have great moments, Borat is the crowd favorite though. Along with recommending the Borat movie, The Ali G DVD’s are also hysterical.
I only know of one interview that Cohen did out of character with The Atlantic Monthly, so he will be in Borat mode promoting the new film. The interview will essentially be a microcosm of what the film is. Try not to be offended.
