You’re an Idiot! Please Watch My Show
This I love. Buzz Bissinger, the author of the book Friday Night Lights, is more or less scorning Dancing With The Stars for being “contrived and ridiculous” and dismissing the American public as idiotic for watching it.
Bissinger, who is new to the TV business, doesn’t seem to realize that this current brand of predicament is not (That predicament being his show receives 1/3 the ratings the business end of his berating does). Arrested Development ended up being cancelled for the exact same reasons after its shortened third season. What was AD replaced with? Skating With The Stars. Even Studio 60 has a storyline parroting netoworks inability to run even moderately cerebral programming. Who would have thought all of this intellectual condemnation could come from a guy named Buzz?
So do him a favor and tune in tonight at 8pm est, even though he seemingly hates your guts. Just because he may be obnoxiously morally indignant, it doesn’t make him wrong.

Great site. I’m just getting to know all the fellow TV bloggers here on 451.
Buzz doesn’t hate me, because I also detest the American viewing public who watch anything that ends in “…With Stars.”
I miss Arrested Development sooo much. But, well, it will live on in DVD form, FOREVER!

I have much disdain for all shows of the “performance reality” genre as well. I literally do not understand whats appealing about them. Seems like there is better methods to attracting an audience though.
Tony Hale mentioned something about an AD movie at the emmys this year. could be wishful thinking on his part, though I naively hope it will happen. When I watch the DVD’s its really hard to believe anything that funny could be cancelled.
